Castlecomer Discovery Park is set in the idyllic and stunning surrounds of 80 acres of woodlands on the Estate Yard in Castlecomer, County Kilkenny, just 25 minutes’ drive from us here at the family-run and family-friendly Abbeyleix Manor Hotel.

Explore the spectacular 80 acres of woodland which boasts an exciting range of recreational and educational activities.  Castlecomer park offers a range of fun, challenging and exhilarating activities and attractions around the estate that can be enjoyed on your own, as a couple, together as a family, group of friends or work colleagues. Some of our activities include the very popular Advanced High Ropes course, Tree Top Adventure Walk for all the thrill-seeking enthusiasts, Climbing Wall, Leap of Faith, Boating, Archery, Fairy Village and lots more.

There are many wonderful walking trails to explore and enjoy or why not sail on the Castlecomer lakes with boat or canoeing activities available or take a visit to the coal mining museum.

Set amongst the sycamore trees, the 7m high tree-top adventure walk boasts 14 obstacles to tackle and complete. The Climbing Wall is a big hit with all ages had as three levels of difficulty. If you are feeling brave take a leap of faith from the7m pole to catch a swinging trapeze bar

For the Smallies

Castlecomer is ideal for young children with lots of activities to entertain them. Timber tumbles playground includes a climbing wall and mini zip wire.  The junior woodland adventure course is ideal for 3-8-year olds and always a hit or visit the enchanting elf and fairy village and watch their eyes light up. The digital scavenger hunt and the bouncing net are also a hit with the smallies.

Castlecomer Discovery Park has something to entertain all ages ideal for a family day out.  There is a whole day of activities to keep you busy whatever the weather. Please note some activities may need to be pre-booked and may be weather depending. The discovery centre is open most days from 10am to 5pm and outdoor activities are available from 11am to 3pm.
